Help Fill the Gap: Volunteer to Support Neighbors Facing Food Insecurity

Volunteers are urgently needed.

As of Saturday, November 1st, 3 million New Yorkers, including 131,000 residents in Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam Counties, did not receive their SNAP benefits. Residents in need are turning to local food distribution programs, which have already seen an increase in clients this year.

Local food distribution programs are stepping up to fill the gap, but the demand for support is growing rapidly – and they need our help now more than ever.

Volunteer New York! fills critical volunteer roles at  local community partners, by maintaining a 24/7 online volunteer opportunity database, making it easy to get volunteers where they are needed most: food pantries, soup kitchens, and essential goods providers. We build capacity for community partners as they scale up to meet the community's needs by connecting caring neighbors like you to opportunities where you can make an immediate impact.
